Sometimes, we do not feel sad all alone. Sometimes, two people who are together do have insecurities, fears, and doubts regarding to the future, especially about the trust and distrust issues, hence they ask for one another to not letting any lies come in between them; and there is sadness in it. 7. Dewi Yull & Broery Marantika – Jangan Ada Dusta di Antara Kita (Don’t
Let There be Any Lies Between Us)
Starting the list on
number seven is a classic heart-wrenching duet performed by both Indonesian
legendary singers, the late Broery Marantika and Dewi Yull, titled “Jangan Ada Dusta di Antara Kita (Don’t
Let There be Any Lies Between Us)”. It was released in 1992 as the title song
for Marantika’s album of the same name. This pop ballad track was written by Indonesian
legendary composer, Harry Tasman. Marantika and Yull’s sweet harmony sounds
heartfelt as they sing about two lovers who are in the verge of a breakup
because of broken trust between them. They both still have deep feeling towards
each other hence they try to fix the relationship by start telling the truth
about what they really feel; about the insecurities, fears, doubts, and
everything that might kill their relationship. They start by not letting any
lies come in between them.

Kuingat (If I Remember)

of the list is a song performed by vocal trio, Lingua, titled “Bila Kuingat (If I Remember)”. Lingua
was consisted of Amara, Frans Mohede, and Arie Widiawan. The song was released
in 1996 as the title song for the trio’s debut album of the same name. This
ballad track was written by Indonesian famous composer and musician, Yovie
Widianto. The lyrics of the bitter-sweet ballad tell about two lovers who are
longing for each other but can only remember the time they’ve spent together
since they are apart now. And every time they remember, those feelings come up
again filling their empty heart.

5. Tata Janeeta & Bebi Romeo – Bawalah Cintaku (Take My Love Away)
A melancholic ballad
duet performed by Bebi Romeo and Tata Janeeta, titled “Bawalah Cintaku (Take My Love Away)”, is up on number five
of the list. It was released in 2012 as a part of Romeo’s compilation album,
“Masterpiece”. Written by Romeo himself, this pop ballad track showcases the
beautiful harmony of his and Janeeta’s unique husky vocals. The lyrics speak
about desperation feeling of a love that cannot be together. Since both of the
lovers cannot stop the feeling, they decide to let their significant other to
take their love away with them as they both leave each other. Therefore the
love is able to live though they are apart.

the list is a heart-wrenching duet performed by Indonesian lady rocker, Inka
Christie with Malaysian rocker, Amy Search, titled “Cinta Kita (Our Love)”. This slow rock ballad track written by M.
Nasir and Youngky R.M was released in 1992. The harmonization of Search and
Christie’s unique husky voices stands out in this song that talks about two
lovers who are infatuated towards each other that they are willing to do
anything and to risk everything in order to be together. That is just the kind
of the love they have; their love. Nothing in this world can break them apart.
And it is just the two of them against the world.

3. PAS Band & Tere – Kesepian Kita (Our Loneliness)
Opening the big three
of the list is a song titled “Kesepian
Kita (Our Loneliness)”, performed by Indonesian rock band, PAS, featuring
female soloist, Tere. This alternative rock track was released in 2001 as the
lead single taken from the band’s fifth album, “Ketika”. This song was also
included in Tere’s debut studio album, “Awal yang Indah”, which was released in
2002. The band’s vocalist, Yukie, has a masculine-toned voice that goes well
with Tere’s soft voice. The song has contemplative lyrics regarding to life and
its upd and downs. It captures the hollow sadness that everybody has been going
through in solitude and loneliness; when they take a look back at their life so
far and reminiscing what they have been through all this time.

2. Melly Goeslaw & Ari Lasso – Jika (If)
On the runner-up
position of the list is a bitter-sweet duet titled “Jika (If)”, performed by Melly Goeslaw and Ari Lasso. The pop R n’
B track was released in 1999 as the lead single taken from Goeslaw’s solo debut
album, “Melly”. It was also included in Lasso’s solo debut album, “Sendiri
Dulu”, which was released in 2001. Written by Goeslaw, this song’s lyrics
follow the story of ex-lovers who apparently still want to go back together,
since they realize that everything that had made them broken in the past was
not meant to be, and that they actually belong together. Hence they wonder if
there is any chance for them to get back together again and make it right.
Goeslaw & Lasso: If still, my mouth can tell all good words that I wanted to say, I will hear your insult and praise for me. We were still young in looking for decisions. I’m sorry that I want to go back, if only there is a way to go back.
1. Reza & Masaki Ueda – Biar Menjadi Kenangan (Let It Be
Memories)
Finally, on top
position of the list is the heart-wrenching duet performed by Indonesian diva,
Reza Artamevia, with Japanese singer, Masaki Ueda, titled “Biar Menjadi Kenangan (Let It Be Memories)”. The melancholic pop
ballad track was released in 2000, taken from Reza’s second studio album,
“Keabadian”. Written by Indonesian famous musician, Ahmad Dhani, this sad love
song has lyrics that allude to a forbidden relationship the feeling of facing dilemmas
that come around because of the circumstances. The woman keeps hurting since
the man has already had another woman before her. He cannot leave his old lover
just like that hence it complicates their relationship. They are stuck. They cannot
stop loving each other yet they cannot be together. Since they both understand
that it is going nowhere, they decide to let it all be just memories.
