People
say that some of them are living in the memories. Well me, I always say that
I’m living in the now, in the present time. But yes, memories are part of my
life. And sometimes, sometimes I just can’t help but being brought back in the
universe of memories. Memories, for us, human being, are moments that have
become a past, therefore I cherish them. I read once in somebody’s blog that a
blog post itself is a tribute to our old memories. We capture the moment
through words, we write it down, and so the moment today will become tomorrow’s
yesterday, and the now will become the future’s past. We frame the moment
through a writing, enshrine it, and so it will become a memory to remember.
Everytime I read my old writings, I feel like I’m taking a look back at my own
memories, like watching it in a movie, like listening to it in a song. It’s the
last day of June, therefore the last day for Moments Of Our Lives too. And I realize, I will never stop writing.
I can’t stop writing. It doesn’t matter if nobody read this, as long as the
future-me can read it and take her back to the moment of the now.
“Do
you still remember how we used to be? Feeling together, believe in
whatever my love has said to me. Both of us were dreamers, young love in
the sun. Felt like my saviour, my spirit I gave you. We’d only just begun.”
–Spice Girls, Viva Forever
Today’s
song for Moments Of Our Lives is a
classic titled “Viva Forever”, performed by the most successful British
legendary girl group, Spice Girls. It was released on July 20th 1998, served as
the fourth as well as the final single from their second studio album,
“Spiceworld”. The song gained positive reviews from critics. It also charted
fairly well, becoming Spice Girls’ eighth number one single. “Viva Forever” was
a commercial success despite the poor promotion.

Live
forever for the moment. The lyrics of “Viva Forever” speak about living in the
memories, not always, but only at some particular moments when we reminisce the
precious moments of the past. “Do you still
remember how we used to be? Feeling together, believe in whatever my
love has said to me. Both of us were dreamers, young love in the sun. Felt like
my saviour, my spirit I gave you. We’d only just begun.” The days of our
youth are bright. They should be bright. They must be bright. Every moment that
we live, every step we take, every path we choose, they are things to be
remembered in our future. They make us who we are today, and tomorrow. So while
you live, embrace it, so that you can cherish it later. “Yes I still remember, every whispered word. The touch of your
skin, giving life from within like a love song that I’d heard. Slipping
through our fingers, like the sands of time. Promises made, every memory
saved has reflections in my mind.”
“Back where I belong
now, was it just a dream? Feelings unfold, they will never be
sold, and the secret’s safe with me.” Memories are
reflections of our old selves. As beautiful as they are, they eventually bring
us back to the present to reflect. Hasta
mañana is a Spanish that means ‘until tomorrow’. People use it to say ‘see
you tomorrow’ or ‘see you later’ for another person, in terms that they fully
understand they won’t see that person for a little time or even a long one. At
some point in life, people eventually say goodbye. It’s an unavoidable
farewell, people come and go. However, the memories stay. And some people are
destined to be remembered forever. They may just stay for a while, for one
chapter of our lifetime storybook, but that’s enough to make them live forever
in our memories. “Hasta mañana, always
be mine. Viva forever, I’ll be waiting, everlasting, like the sun. Live forever
for the moment, ever searching for the one.”

“Viva
Forever” was written by Spice Girls, along with Richard Stannard and Matt Rowe.
It became the last song released by Spice Girls with the original quintet
formation, because it had been recorder prior to the departure of Geri
Halliwell. Ironically, it was also the first single that the Ginger Spice
didn’t take part during the promotion. But, magically, the situation suited
well with the song’s lyrics, it seemed like they’re saying goodbye to
Halliwell. Well, just because we have to take different path with people we
love, it doesn’t mean that the moments we’ve shared aren’t real. It’s just the
way it has to be.
