Growing Pains

People say that the first cut is the deepest. And I say that the deepest cut is the most unforgettable one. At some point, the deepest cut becomes a life-changing moment in someone’s life; a moment that will stay forever in the memory. It may be fading through the passing of time, but it’s there, as if there’s no time to celebrate as well as no time to grieve. The deepest cut is growing into pains. Pains that, in return, allow people to grow up. Broken vow and promises, wrecked relationship, scarred heart; they’re just fragments in human being’s journey of life: moments. People are moving on eventually, whether they resent or cherish those moments in the way. Time is moving forward eventually, whether we live it in celebration or grievance of those moments. Just one thing; nothing lasts forever. Whether it’s a good or a bad thing, it will pass.
“This
cold night street, these heartbreaking footsteps, it all will pass someday. Memories
of us from back then when we were crazily in love, it all will slowly flow down.
It will be forgotten as time goes by.” –Donghae & Eunhyuk, Growing Pains (너는 나만큼)
Today’s
song for Moments Of Our Lives is a
song coming from the South Korean pop duo, Donghae and Eunhyuk, titled “Growing
Pains (너는
나만큼)”.
Donghae and Eunhyuk (commonly stylized as “Donghae & Eunhyuk”) duo is the
fifth official subgroup of the prominent Korean idol group, Super Junior,
therefore also known as Super Junior–D&E. “Growing Pains (너는
나만큼)”
was the third single released from their first extended play, “The Beat Goes
On”. Both the single and the album was released on March 9th 2015.

Nothing lasts forever, whether it’s a good or a bad thing, it will pass. The lyrics of “Growing Pains (너는 나만큼)” speak about people who live their lives believing that the growing pains from a heartbreaking moment in the past will pass as the time goes by. “This cold night street, these heartbreaking footsteps, it all will pass someday. Memories of us from back then when we were crazily in love, it all will slowly flow down. It will be forgotten as time goes by.” Analyzing the past is like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there’s no right answer. Sometimes, things just happen. Shit, just happens. And two people just aren’t meant to be. And they are just meant to become distant, away from each other. “My thoughts that are filled with you, even those thoughts push me away as if they’re irritated. I chase after the clock hands, chase after time, but there, only to discover you leaving. Now I’m in a rush toward you and you’re in a hurry to leave me. Like an express train, my footsteps rush every day, as if they’ve surrendered to the memories. Now we’re like an old and worn out notebook that is filled with scribbles.”
“I try to find a way
and go into your closed heart, but in this empty room, I discover that
ourselves are already broken, so it hurts.” Forgetting
someone we once loved deeply is like trying to know somebody we never met;
almost impossible. Memorizing someone we hold most dear is as easy as knowing all
the words to our old favorite songs. “I
try to find a way and go into my lost memories, but now I can’t see you. I
discover that our time is already disappeared, so it hurts so much.” Losing
someone we once loved deeply is like trying to change our mind once we’re
already flying through the free fall; can’t be undone. Regretting someone we
hold most dear is like wishing we never found out that love could be that
strong. “However, I hope you don’t get
hurt as much as I am. I hope for this every day, countlessly. I hope you won’t
remember as much as I do. I hope you’re better than me, today and tomorrow.”
When hearts break, it don’t break even. Yet we should know when the time has
come for us to stop and let go, and move on to another moment. “I put it all down today. I guess I’m
forgetting, I can’t see you clearly. I think the time is up.”

Lee Donghae wrote the lyrics and arranged the music of “Growing Pains (너는 나만큼)” by himself, along with Team One Sound. The pop R n’ B song with medium fast tempo was released digitally on March 6th 2015 prior to its physical release on March 9th. The music video for “Growing Pains (너는 나만큼)” was premiered on Mnet on March 5th 2015. Donghae and Eunhyuk were successfully standing out with their duo, despite the fact that both are part of a group with a very large number of members. They got their way to seize the moment.
“However,
I hope you don’t get hurt as much as I am. I hope for this every day,
