Teenager
A
single photo could talk a thousand words. It’s a reflection of our lives.
Taking a look at our past photo, even just one, could bring back a thousand
memories. The Remembered and The
Forgotten, a single photo could bring them all in our minds all over again.
And it’s fascinating how a long time has passed, how we’ve grown up from a
little baby to an adult, and many thoughts suddenly come up; like how we get
into where we are now, and what we’ve been through so far. L.M. Montgomery, in
the book “Anne of Green Gables”, wrote that there are so many things to be thought
over and decided when you’re beginning to grow up. It keeps us busy all the
time thinking them over and deciding what’s right. It’s a serious thing to grow
up, isn't it?
“I’ve
changed as much as the time that has passed like a faded photo. I can’t go back
to those times but I want to find that feeling.” –Jung Joon Young, Teenager
Let’s
celebrate those memories that we have while boosting up the mood with Jung Joon
Young’s hits titled “Teenager”. The young rocker had a comeback with his second
mini album, which had a same name with its title song. It was released on June
26th 2014. This time, Jung composed and produced all of the songs in the album,
as well as making the concept on his own.
“Teenager”
is a song about self-reflection. When people grow up, without realizing,
sometimes they forget who they used to be, because of the unavoidable changing
and pressure we face while we’re getting older. “The worn out notebook, the flung away backpack, the dirty Converse,
the faded doodles on the desk, there goes a young child who used to dream. I
keep staring at the clock and I find those jokes are no use anymore. During
these days like the hot summer, will I be able to smile?” They say that
children are warm, and adults are cold. Well, being old is a destiny, yet being
mature is a choice. And being mature isn’t mean that we have to be cold.
Instead, being mature is keeping the warmth feeling of a child while having the
attitude and thinking as an adult. “As I
look at myself, learning things one by one and adjusting. I ask my friend and
he says that it’s all just a part of life. The clock just keeps going faster
and I can’t laugh at jokes anymore. As I’m getting colder, will I be able to
smile again?” Even though we’re not a teenager anymore, it’s never too late
to start working on our unrealized dreams. There’s always pressure to grow up ,
it’s unavoidable in a sense, but we can choose to grow up into our own version
of a responsible and happy adult.
As
we know, Jung Joon Young is a free-spirited young rocker who says and does
whatever he wants. And through this song, “Teenager”, his true personality is
showed up; smells like a teen spirit! At the same time, it depicts Jung’s
self-reflection towards his own life, and his positivity in looking towards his
own future. It shows that he has grown both in musicality and maturity. Rock n’
roll, Jung!
“I
have grown tall and bigger, but my heart is still a teenager. Even if other
hurdles come to see me, I will overcome, and I will smile.” –Jung Joon
