Rise and Fall
Life
isn’t always going as our plans. Therefore we must be willing to get rid of the
life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. That’s what
Joseph Campbell said. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.
Believe that every fall is a beginning of another rise. Once you raise, prepare
for another fall that might come. Jennifer Ritchie Payette said, “It’s humbling
to start fresh. It takes a lot of courage. But it can be reinvigorating. You
just have to put your ego on a shelf and tell it to be quiet.” The Remembered and The Forgotten, in a
life that is full of rise and fall, it’s never too late to start over. As
Aberjhani said, reconstruct your soul with faith, it transforms agony into
peace.
“Sometimes
in life you feel the fight is over, and it seems as though the writings on the
wall. Superstar you finally made it, but once your picture becomes tainted,
it’s what they call the rise and fall.” –Craig David feat. Sting, Rise & Fall
Talking
about the rise and fall of life, there’s a song by British singer, Craig David,
titled “Rise & Fall”. In this R n’ B song, David collaborated with British
infamous singer and musician, Sting. It was released as a single on April 28th
2003, as the third single taken from his second studio album, titled “Slicker
Than Your Average” that was released on 2002.
“Rise
& Fall” is a song about someone who reaches the peak but then got lost
afterward, blinded by wealth and fame. Luckily he realizes that and tries to
get his head straight. Wealth and fame; because of these two, people tend to
easily forget who they really are. “I
always said that I was gonna make it, now it’s plain for everyone to see. But
this game I’m in don’t take no prisoners, just casualties. I know that
everything is gonna change, even the friends I knew before may go. But this
dream is the life I’ve been searching for.” Once people feel like they can
have everything they want in their life, that’s when things are never the same
again. Without realizing, they change, little by little, because with money
comes a different status. They begin to be too concerned with all the things
they own, being blinded. And that’s when they start to lose their integrity. They
search for comforts, but some things can take over their life and lead them to
something worse. “Burnt all my bridges,
now I’ve run out of places, and there’s nowhere left for me to turn, been
caught in comprimising situations. I should have learnt from all those times I
didn’t walk away, when I knew that it was best to go. Is it too late to show
you the shape of my heart?” Well the fight is not over yet when you finally
make it. Your dreams come true and you have everything you want, yet it doesn’t
mean that you can act like a brat. You’re up in the air, yet you have to know
exactly when to look down and come back to earth. Indeed, the fall is there to
let people to appreciate the rise; it’s there to allow people to learn, to be
better.
Written
by Craig David himself along with Sting and Dominic Miller, “Rise & Fall”
is based on a sample of Sting’s song titled “Shape of My Heart” which was
released on 1993. The song became the biggest hit from David’s album, as it was
topping the UK music charts. Calm yet captivating, the song is a perfect
company to think on about your life.
“Now I
know, I made mistakes, think I don’t care, but you don’t realise what this
means to me. So let me have, just one more chance. I’m not the man I used to be.”

I’m

I
never used to be a troublemaker, now I don’t even wanna please the fans
No
autographs, no interviews, no pictures, endless demands
Give
into vices that was clearly wrong, the type that seems to make me feel so right
But
some things you may find can take over your life
Burnt
all my bridges now I’ve run out of places, and there’s nowhere left for me to
