Better Man
“Sadness
gives depth. Happiness gives height. Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives
branches. Happiness is like a tree going into the sky, and sadness is like the
roots going down into the womb of the earth. Both are needed, and the higher a
tree goes, the deeper it goes, simultaneously. The bigger the tree, the bigger
will be its roots. In fact, it is always in proportion. That’s its balance.”
That’s a quote by the infamous Osho Rajneesh, and can’t agree more with it.
Indeed, a life needs its balance in order to continue living; The Remembered and The Forgotten, a
balance of the past to move towards the future.
“As my
soul heals the shame, I will grow through this pain. Lord, I’m doing all I can
to be a better man.” –Robbie Williams, Better Man
British
infamous singer, Robbie Williams, has a great song about contemplation. The
song is titled “Better Man”. It was released as a single on October 22nd 2001,
and served as the last single from his third studio album, “Sing When You’re
Winning”.
“Better
Man” is a song about someone who reflects on the past in order to make a better
future, ans asks God to help. “Send
someone to love me, I need to rest in arms keep me safe from harm in pouring
rain. Give me endless summer, Lord I fear the cold, feel I’m getting old before
my time.” Time flies and loneliness remains, as we’re getting older and our
hearts become colder. And all we need is a consolation, to look at every little
things with a positive mind. “Go easy on
my conscience, ‘cause it’s not my fault. I know I’ve been taught to take the
blame. Rest assured, my angels will catch my tears. Walk me out of here, I’m in
pain.” Pain is there to make people grow. Past is there to make people
learn. Sadness is there to make people appreciate happiness. That’s the balancing
we take to be a better man each days. In love, we may hit the rock bottom, once
or twice or even more, yet we will find the one, someday and somehow.
The
soft rock song was a big success, though the single was only released in
Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America. “Better Man” became one of Robbie
Williams’ signature songs, along with “Feel” and “Eternity”. Indeed, it’s a
classic masterpiece.

you’ve found that lover you’re homeward bound, love is all around. I know some
have fallen on stony ground, but love is all around.” –Robbie Williams,
