7 Best K-Drama Couples of 2014

2014 in K-drama land has been a very dynamic year. Many kinds of couples were being depicted during the whole year through many dramas, from the melodramas until my favorite genre, comedy romance dramas. A lot of couples have appeared and grabbed people’s hearts with their chemistry; two bestfriends who turn into lovers, two ex-lovers or ex-husband-and-wife who reunite, a younger man with an older woman, two strangers who were being brought together by fate, two partners-in-work who turn into partners-in-love, and many more.

In order to give appreciation and salute for those on-screen couples who have been giving excitements and making our hearts fluttering during this whole year, in this second post for 2014 Review: The Best and The Most of 2014, I will make a list of The Best K-Drama Couples of 2014. A total of seven couples will be on this list. My choices are purely based on my personal preferences. Not only whether the couples look good together visually, but also how their chemistry could be felt throughout their characters in the drama series. So, which couple will make it to the list? Let’s check it out.

7. Kang Tae Ha and Han Yeo Reum (Discovery of Love)

The reunion couple, Moon Jung Hyuk (also known as Shinhwa’s Eric) and Jung Yu Mi, opens up the list on number seven with their portrayals as Kang Tae Ha and Han Yeo Reum respectively in the KBS’ romantic-comedy drama series, “Discovery of Love”. Seven years ago, Eric and Jung Yu Mi had been brought together by the drama series “Que Sera Sera” (2007). And now, the couple finally meet again for “Discovery of Love”. As the 16-episodes drama series went through, I could feel that Eric and Jung Yu Mi were really comfortable with each other, which made the chemistry of Tae Ha and Yeo Reum couple was so splendid. Watching them makes me feel like watching two long-time bestfriends who turn into lovers and then getting married to each other; such a warm fuzzy feeling.

6. Choi Dal Po & Choi In Ha (Pinocchio)

The same-age friends, Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye, are on this number five six their portrayals as Choi Dal Po and Choi In Ha respectively for the new drama series, “Pinocchio”, that is currently airing now on SBS. I’ve only just watched the first four episodes of this drama series, but I already feel that Dal Po and In Ha are overflowing with chemistry. Moreover, I’ve watched the interview video with the cast, Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye look very comfortable with each other. Besides the fact that they’re at the same age and they said that it wasn’t hard for them to get along with each other, it seems that Lee is so into Park and vice versa. I’m really looking forward to this lovely couple.

5. Cha Jung Woo & Na Ae Ra (Cunning Single Lady)

Up on number five, I have the main couple from the MBC’s romantic-comedy drama series, “Cunning Single Lady”, Cha Jung Woo and Na Ae Ra couple. Portrayed by actor Joo Sang Wook and actress Lee Min Jung respectively, Jung Woo and Ae Ra is a kind of couple that could bring your heart goes up and down because of their comical chemistry. Joo Sang Wook and Lee Min Jung really did a great duet with their portrayal as Jung Woo and Ae Ra. I love the way Jung Woo worked his butt off so hardly in order to win Ae Ra’s heart all over again. And I also love the way their complicated entangled relationship’s progress through the 16-episode drama series. This couple is such a mood-booster! Moreover, these two are really look good together. PS for Lee Min Jung eonnie, if anything is not going well with your husband, just go to Joo Sang Wook oppa, please. Somehow I have the feeling that you two could make it.

4. Han Ki Joon & Song Hwa Ran (Modern Farmer)

Ki Joon and Bul Ja moment from the "Modern Farmer" drama series

From the currently airing SBS’ weekend drama series, “Modern Farmer”, here I have Han Ki Joon and Song Hwa Ran couple on this number four position. In this romantic-comedy drama series, this couple is portrayed by young actor Kwak Dong Yeon and rookie actress Han Joo Hyun respectively. Though this couple is only a supporting characters couple, Ki Joon and Hwa Ran (also known as Bul Ja) couple already caught my attention since their relationship started in the 3rd episode of the series. Their relationship grows in a funny yet touchy way, which I love the most. I have just got the information that the real age-gap between Kwak Dong Yeon and Han Joo Hyun is 13 years-old! Yup, Kwak is 13 years younger than Han. Wow, I can’t even notice that because of their overflowing chemistry. Their relationship is my special mood-booster while watching “Modern Farmer”, and they keep making me look forward to this series as it’s currently airing.

3. Jang Jae Yeol & Ji Hae Soo (It’s Okay, That’s Love)

Opening up the big three of the list is Jang Jae Yeol and Ji Hae Soo couple from the SBS’ romantic-comedy drama series, “It’s Okay, That’s Love”. The main characters of the 16-episodes drama series were portrayed by actor Jo In Sung and actress Gong Hyo Jin respectively. This couple is sooo addictive! Though they’re always bickering whenever they meet, they can’t avoid that they’re interested to each other. I love how Jae Yeol and Hae Soo complete each other lackness with their chemistry. Their relationship grows so naturally, and I was flustered whenever I watched their romantic scenes. It was also the first time I shed tears when I watch a drama couple not because I was sad, but because I was touched instead. That’s how far this couple could affect you.

2. Gong Gi Tae & Joo Jang Mi (Marriage, Not Dating)

Gong Gi Tae and Joo Jang Mi couple from the tvN’s drama series “Marriage, Not Dating” is on the runner-up position. Portrayed by actor Yeon Woo Jin and actress Han Groo respectively, Gong Gi Tae and Joo Jang Mi showed a great chemistry throughout the 16-episodes romantic-comedy series. I can’t describe it well with words how adorable and lovable the Gong Gi Tae and Joo Jang Mi couple is. And I love watching how their relationship is built and grown in each episode of this series. I have to mention that I was really surprised when I see Jang Mi’s reaction to Gi Tae’s love confession (she was running away, by the way), and I love how natural that reaction was (because probably I would do exactly the same if I were her). Moreover, I love how Gi Tae reacted toward Jang Mi’s reaction (he ran after her, grabbed her, and told her not to runaway from him anymore) because that’s what every woman exactly wants from a man whom she loves.Beside that very memorable scene, there are a lot more great scenes that are very worth to watch.

1. Eun Dae Gu & Oh Soo Sun (You’re All Surrounded)

And now, on the top position, The Best K-Drama Couple of 2014 goes to Eun Dae Gu and Oh Soo Sun couple from the SBS’ action-comedy drama series “You’re All Surrounded”. The two main characters were portrayed by actor Lee Seung Gi and actress Go Ara respectively. I (literally) couldn’t stop giggling everytime I see them together, especially when Dae Gu got jealous over her. This couple is just too cute during the whole 20-episodes drama series. Not only having a great chemistry, but they also look great together visually. Every scene between these two is so worth to watch; from the handcuffs scene, shoe-tie scene, back-hug scene, until those kissing scenes; sooo eye-candy! Lee Seung Gi’s portrayal as Dae Gu successfully made me forget for a while that he’s no longer available for now, because truthfully, I would be really really really glad if he and Go Ara would turn from on-screen into off-screen couple, and not to mention that the ending kissing scene is sooo damn right!. Pardon me, but I truly madly deeply in love with this couple! Well, enough said, if you haven’t watched “You’re All Surrounded”, please watch it, then you would understand why this couple belongs to this number one spot on the list. All hail romance!
