Pada tahun 1994, grup legendaris asal Korea Selatan yang terdiri dari Kim Kwang Jin dan Park Yong Jun, The Classic, merilis sebuah lagu bertajuk “Magic Castle”. Lagu pop ballad yang diciptakan oleh Kim Kwang Jin ini kemudian menjadi hits dan banyak dibawakan ulang oleh para penyanyi terkenal. Remake yang paling terkenal bisa jadi adalah versi milik boy group DBSK, atau yang terkenal juga dengan nama TVXQ. “Magic Castle” versi DBSK termuat dalam Christmas mini album mereka, “The Christmas Gift from Dong Bang Shin Ki”, yang dirilis pada tanggal 7 Desember 2004.
“Magic Castle” is a serenade about someone who’s willingly and pledge to protect their beloved one. Just like in a fairytale, like a Prince who bravely fights for and saves his Princess, they would be there and stand by them to face every struggle in life, to give them strength and courage. “Can you believe that in my dreams, you are a princess that is cast under a magic spell? Although there are so many hardships that come along your way in every time, but I always have a strong determination that I will save you once again. I gathered my hands and prayed for endless courage and wisdom.” Just like in a fairytale, like the Aladdin who boldly brings Princess Jasmine into the whole new world she never seen and been before, they would take away all their pain and give them all the happiness in the world that they could give. “Past the magic castle and across the swamp, inside the dark cave, I see you far away. Now hold my hand, it will feel like our bodies are floating in the air. Even when we freely fly in the sky, don’t be surprised. The world that is spread out before us is so precious if we’re together.” Just like in a fairytale, together, forever, and ever after.
Pada tahun 2013, “Magic Castle” dibawakan ulang oleh female vocal trio, Melody Day. Trio yang terdiri dari Cha Hee, Ye In, dan Yeo Eun ini merilis versi remake untuk mengisi jajaran soundtrack serial drama “Missing You”, atau yang dikenal juga dengan judul “I Miss You”. Lagu ini termuat dalam album “Missing You OST” yang dirilis pada tanggal 16 Januari 2013. Tiga versi yang telah saya sebutkan ini, mulai dari versi original milik The Classic, remake oleh DBSK, hingga remake oleh Melody Day, adalah versi yang paling terkenal dari lagu “Magic Castle”. Indeed, this beautiful song with sweet lyrics and dreamy melody in an everlasting song.
