B.A.P, a Korean boy band consisted of Bang Yong Guk, Himchan, Daehyun, Youngjae, Jongup, and Zelo, were having a blast with their debut hits, “Warrior (워리어)”. Not long after that, they continued to storm in to the music industry with their powerful and charismatic image in which differentiates them among the pretty-boy male idol groups currently dominating the K-Pop universe. The warriors just began to reign with their power. Still for the Male Special Part 1: Band of Brothers, this is the second selected hits of B.A.P.

It’s time to move, the anthem of the strong and the weak will break that fight. This is a revolution, a Guernica flow, so everybody keep your head up.” –B.A.P, Power

B.A.P’s lead track for their second single album, titled “Power”, is today’s song for Band of Brothers. It was released as digital download on April 27th 2012, and later as physical album on May 3rd 2012. Composers Kang Ji Won and Kim Ki Bum, who previously worked together for the group’s debut single, wrote this hardcore hip-hop track, with elements of rock and dance pop, making it sounded even stronger and more provocative than “Warrior (워리어)”.

The lyrics of “Power” speak up to rebel against injustice, fight against the idea that money and status are everything. That the source of true power is within ourselves, not in a mere of social status or wealth. “You block out your ears and lips. You’re too busy filling your stomach up, a role of stealing everything. Like a decalcomania, a role where money, status, and honor doesn’t change. It’s time to move, the anthem of the strong and the weak will break that fight. This is a revolution, a Guernica flow, so everybody keep your head up.” It’s a shout-out, a persuasion to fight against the people who try to get tyranny from money and strength. “One shot! The tyranny of those who cover the bright light. Two shot! Those who look so alike the devil always live a fake life each day. Three shot! Wear the mask of justice and what fights back against them is my ego. Four shot! The ones who match to the rhythm and are trapped don’t know anything in breaking everything. Now it’s time to move. Move the crowd, action! We’ll raise the new wind of this world, so everyone follow us and move over for the weak. That’s us, it’s all passion.”
Throughout the journey of history, it is shown from time to time that society is divided into social classes and groups that clash each other; some are repressing, some are being repressed. And for those who concern, this song shows anger towards tyrants with strength and money, and has the meaning of giving strength to weaker people. “No more of it, there’s no more justice, it’s a world that submits under the power of money. The weak die in the shadows of the strong. That’s it, no more fakeness. It’s a world where only the weak survive. By appearing on TV, we step on the faces of the young souls with a smiling face.” Everyone has power, waiting to surface while being repressed strongly. And when it finally comes, it comes hard and strong. “We got the power, I got the power. Don’t submit under them, don’t be like that and lift your head up. We got the power, fight against them. And don’t look at me with your angelic face, everything is a lie.” All it needs is a trigger, not to make chaos, but to emancipate, to be free. “Follow me, the ones who have strength, follow me. Follow me, everyone become one and follow me.”

B.A.P in the "Power" music video

Hong Won Ki of ZanyBros was still trusted to direct the music video (MV) for “Power”, yet this time, B.A.P members portrayed more strength in their choreography. Just like the group’s previous single, “Power” gained critical acclaim with Corynn Smith of MTV Korea stated, “B.A.P proves once again why they are the top rookies this year with their new track and MV!” Indeed, the brothers are definitely has the power that we just can’t get enough of.

That’s it, no more fakeness. It’s a world where only the weak survive. By appearing on TV, we step on the faces of the young souls with a smiling face.” –B.A.P, Power
