Happy New Year 2015, Readers!

“Contemplate, Resolute, Act.”

Here it comes the very first post in 2015. My motto for this new year celebration is; “Contemplate, Resolute, Act.” Rather than spending my New Year’s Eve going out partying with my friends, I was just staying at home with my family. We cooked delicious food and did movies marathon together through the night. One reason why I did that was because in my country, recently, a jetplane was reported missing (AirAsia QZ8501). Besides that, many accidents and disasters happened during 2014, which made me think to spend the New Year’s Eve in a humble way; contemplate. Indeed, the past is there to make people learn from their mistakes, in order to be better in the future; resolute. After all, it’s in our own hands whether to make the will comes true; act.
Everytime a year has passed, I’m thinking about how I can make it this far, counting my bless and hoping for a greater adventure ahead. As I live my life in these 24 years, I realize that some things from the past are meant to stay in the past; they become memories, lessons to be learned. Some memories, they’re meant to be remembered, as part of our lives, as a light in the dark that reminds us of who we were and what we had gone through before. While some other memories, they’re meant to be forgotten, in order for us to be able to move on, they have to be left behind so it won’t be clinging on us and being our Achilles’ heel. Therefore, the post theme for this January, the first month in 2015, is The Remembered and The Forgotten.

Forget everything that happened yesterday, like it happened the day before yesterday. Erase everything that will happen tomorrow, like it is someone else’s business.” –Taeyang, Ringa Linga (링가 링가)

Since it’s the first day of 2015, I guess we should heat it up. Yup, the first post in this year will be a review of an upbeat K-Pop song, titled “Ringa Linga (링가 링가)”. The hip-hop electro-pop is performed by a member of the infamous Korean boy group Big Bang, Taeyang. It was released as a single on November 8th 2013. Later, this song became a part of Taeyang’s second solo studio album, “Rise”, which was released digitally on June 3rd 2014 and physically on June 10th 2014.

“Ringa Linga (링가 링가)” is a song that motivate people to live like there’s no tomorrow. “Put your hands up like you got your country back. Jump up like you would sprain your ankle. Shake it, like you have a seizure. Sing a song together, everyone.” Live it like today is your last. Forget all your worries and leave all of your sadness behind. “Tonight we ride a roller coaster. There’s no seat belt, I just need to sit next to you.” Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. As long as you have your beloved people around you, there’s nothing to be worry about and afraid of. “It’s our party. We can do what we want to on this rhythm.” It’s our lives. We choose what we want to on this journey.

Written and composed by Taeyang’s group mate, G-Dragon, along with Jose E. (Ricky) Luna, “Ringa Linga (링가 링가)” is a melodic electronic dance music (EDM) that meets with soul hip-hop. It emphasizes Taeyang’s quality as singer, rapper, and also dancer. The music video (MV), directed by Jerry Evans, was released on November 9th 2013, with a special performance of G-Dragon in it. Not only topping the music charts, it’s also well received by critics. Indeed, from Taeyang.

Don’t stop baby, don’t kill my vibe, it’s nice just like this. To the left, to the right, follow me just like that.” –Taeyang, Ringa Linga (링가 링가)
