Maybe it was just a coincidence, but it was raining down from the sky whenever you cried. Being used to that, I was just looking at your sad eyes, as I coldly told you not to cry anymore. However, just like back then, now I’m also crying whenever it rains. Because you, my precious one, is not beside me anymore, that’s the reason why I am crying along with the rain.” –Shin Seung Hun, For a Long Time After That ( 후로 오랫동안) [translated lyrics]

When we talk about rain, we can’t leave this one thing out; reminiscing. This song, “For a Long Time After That ( 후로 오랫동안)”, is also telling about that; about someone who’s reminiscing his/her past lover as he/she feels the rain falling down upon them. When we reminisce our past days with the one we used to love, many thoughts just come like that; those memorable moments, whether they’re sad or happy. Those feelings from back then just come like that from our memories into our hearts. Perhaps, the most burdening feeling comes from regret; the fact that the one we used to love is not here beside us anymore, and also the fact that now we can’t and don’t have the chance make it up for all of the mistakes we’ve made before. “Maybe it was just a coincidence, but it was raining down from the sky whenever you cried. Being used to that, I was just looking at your sad eyes, as I coldly told you not to cry anymore. However, just like back then, now I’m also crying whenever it rains. Because you, my precious one, is not beside me anymore, that’s the reason why I am crying along with the rain.”
When the rain falls, as we reminisce those days we spent with the one we used to love, we remember how many times we’ve made that person cried back then. And that guilty feeling is haunting us all over again now, for a long time after that. And somehow without we even realize, we’re the one who’s crying right now. “For a long time after that, the rain was coming, as much as it was raining, I cried. But what breaks my heart was the thought that somewhere, you might be crying as well like me.” People say that we never know what we got until we lose it. Sometimes that’s right. For some people indeed it needs some times to realize what they really need. And when the rain falls, we can’t help but find ourselves wishing that the destiny would bring us to meet that one person again, even just once while we’re still alive; even just to say sorry, even just to know how he/she’s doing, even just to see, that would be enough. “Dear sky, please help me and just stop crying like this. You could easily find out where my lover is. While I’m alive, I want to see her once again. Even if it’s a coincidence, I believe in you, as I feel your tears upon me.”
