For a Lady

Maybe the time had stopped since the first time back then, just felt like walking in somewhere around the country. In that early winter dawn after the fall had passed, you came closer to me like the first snow of the season.” –Byun Jin Sub, For a Lady [translated lyrics]

The reason was no other than because it’s such a sweet love songs from a man to a woman.
“For a Lady” is a song about love confession. The interesting thing is that there’s no “love” word is used in its lyrics at all. Therefore, that makes this confession somehow sounds more sincere than any other confessions ever. “Maybe the time had stopped since the first time back then, just felt like walking in somewhere around the country. In that early winter dawn after the fall had passed, you came closer to me like the first snow of the season.” Rather than just talking about love, this song tells about the feeling that the man had since the first time he saw the woman. Right at that time, it felt like time had stop. Since that time, she came into his life and turned everything into beautiful things, just like the first snowfall in the winter after a long windy autumn. “Though your bright smile has probably come to my heart, the gloomy look in your eyes slowly takes my heart away too. I’d very love to know every little thing about you, would you tell me somehow? Maybe if I could talk softly in your dreams when you sleep at night, would you come to hear?” Unknowingly, slowly, she came into his mind and took his heart away. Suddenly, every part of her was so attractive for him. And one day, he decides to confess his feeling. He wants to know her better, hear her stories; he would like to be her man; he would like her to accept his heart.
Dirilis pertama kali pada tahun 1989, “For a Lady” menjadi bagian dari album kedua Byun Jin Sub, yang terjual hingga lebih dari satu juta salinan, a celebrated album that brought him fame. This song that goes well with Byun’s soft voice is carrying a shy confession from a guy. That’s why it received much love from young female fans back then. “For a Lady” was number one requested song on the radio and was famous as a great song for guys to propose to a girl with. Dalam satu lagu, mereka berhasil menampilkan dua sisi sekaligus; shy man and macho man. They showcased the confession of both shy and macho man in sweetly yet brave manner at the same time. As expected from Daybreak, it was such a refreshing and fun performance.

Though your bright smile has probably come to my heart, the gloomy look in your eyes slowly takes my heart away too. I’d very love to know every little thing about you, would you tell me somehow? Maybe if I could talk softly in your dreams when you sleep at night, would you come to hear?” –Byun Jin Sub, For a Lady [translated lyrics]
