When I turn the pages of fading memories, I see frustration and humble atonement regarding the unfulfilled dream. Like an old story or dust on window frame, things pile up inside my heart like your smile of the past.” –Lee Sun Hee, Turning the Pages of Memories [translated lyrics]

The South Korea’s greatest female singer of the 1980s, Lee Sun Hee, made her appearance as a legend in a music show program “Immortal Songs 2: Singing the Legend”. In order to commemorate the 30th anniversary of her career in South Korea’s music industry, two episodes of “Immortal Songs 2” were dedicated as Lee Sun Hee two-parts special edition. Lagu ballad ini bertajuk “Turning the Pages of Memories”.
“Turning the Pages of Memories”, just like its title, is a song about someone who reminiscing their past old day; all that they’ve been through that brought them there right at their place now. Indeed, memories are like a book full of stories. Remembering it again is like open that book and read it page by page. Happiness, sadness, regrets, resentments, and all that in there remind people of who they used to be; of that one person that they’ve let go before, that one person they love so much. “When I turn the pages of fading memories, I see frustration and humble atonement regarding the unfulfilled dream. Like an old story or dust on window frame, things pile up inside my heart like your smile of the past.” As they turn the pages of those fading memories, they realize that time waits for neither nothing nor no one. And memories that left in the past will always be memories, deep in their thoughts, deep in their hearts. “Even without a storm, spring comes and summer goes, my love. Even without tears, flowers bloom and leaves fall. Setting my longing free in the passing time, I fall asleep and dream a dream.”
Dirilis pertama kali pada tahun 1990, “Turning the Pages of Memories” merupakan bagian dari album keenam Lee Sun Hee yang bertajuk “Why Only Me”. Album ini menandakan transformasi musik Lee yang menggabungkan musik pop dengan musik klasik, sehingga disebut-sebut sebagai titik balik dalam karir musik Lee. “Turning the Pages of Memories” has these sentimental lyrics and melody that stand out in this smooth song. Lena Park berhasil menghidupkan kembali lagu melankolis ini dengan penghayatan yang luar biasa. Her sensitivity is on different level! With her brilliant sensibility and charming yet explosive voice, she successfully captured everyone’s heart with her breathtaking performance. She left everyone speechless and scored very high in her very first appearance in “Immortal Songs 2”. Indeed, people don’t call her ‘fairy’ without reason, and even the legend herself acknowledged it. She nailed “Turning the Pages of Memories”.

Even without a storm, spring comes and summer goes, my love. Even without tears, flowers bloom and leaves fall. Setting my longing free in the passing time, I fall asleep and dream a dream.” –Lee Sun Hee, Turning the Pages of Memories [translated lyrics]
